Once upon a time, Zipang (Japan) was thrust into the long and bloody Sengoku Period.
More than a hundred years of near-constant military conflict tore apart
the country as feudal lords battled for power over the Island of Gold.
This civil war affected everyone, not only brilliant military strategists, fearless warriors,
and stealthy ninjas, but also enchanting princesses, rich aristocrats,
and venerable monks—even the almighty Emperor himself...
You must master the skills of this variety of characters, battling with captains,
subverting defenses with ninjas, or inciting peasant uprisings.
But be sure to keep your honor intact, lest the Emperor frown upon you and retract his support.
Zipang Portable is a fast-paced “pick one, play one” card game, beautifully designed by
Japanese artists, with stunning ukiyo-e style cards. Players will dive into the greatest
battle of the 17th century and become Sengoku heroes vying for the Shogun’s power in
this compact, easy to learn, yet hard to master game.
You are a rising Samurai during the chaotic Sengoku Period (Japan in the 17th century). You must take part in successive campaigns to gain land and resources, until one is left with no resources. The one with the most resources (Mangoku Coins) then becomes the all-powerful Shogun. During each campaign, you will use Character Cards to attack and defend, or steal cards or Mangoku Coins from other players.
You will need to strategize and decide if you use a card with higher Battle Points to attack and attempt to eliminate your opponent now, or keep it to defend yourself later in the campaign. Then, you’ll need to decide whether to play higher Honor Points cards in order to get all the Mangoku Coins at the end of the campaign, or to play them early to prevent your opponent from attacking and potentially eliminating you from the current campaign.
